RE: Mass Effect 3
ME3 demo so far is nothing short from amazing. The score is moving towards a MW3 feel yet... "spacey." Earth is at war with the Reapers and it feels like war. The character models look stunning, a huge leap from ME1 and ME2 respectively. Combat feels a bit like a traditional 3PS in the sense that you can do a lot more evasive maneuvers and it feels easier to move around in mid combat. I was super stoked to see old ME1 favorites returning but I want to know what happens to the ME2 team. Mordin Solus returned (Salarian) but no Miranda, Jacob, Tali... ect.

As for MP, haven't played it. Need some sort of special pass. :[

RE: Mass Effect 3
Miranda and Jacob have popped up in trailers briefly, so they'll be back. The highlight of the entire demo was Wrex. I'm freakin' all about Wrex. ME2's Grunt just wasn't the same. The demo was decent, intro mission for the game felt like it was trying way too hard, it could probably have done less to force the idea of 'Earth-is-screwed' onto me, especially that part with the kid. The second mission was a tidied up version of the mission I played last year at EBX. Felt good to be back on my home controller and not struggling with the 360 one this time, I had some texture issues here and there... but it is a demo so I won't grudge it that.

The co-op was surprisingly fun, played a few games but never seemed to make it past the tenth wave (curse you, Atlas!!). Tonight I'm pairing up with a couple of buddies, so hopefully we'll push beyond that now but I can see it occupying some time until I can afford Syndicate. Overall, definitely looking forward to ME3 a bit more than I had been.

I really wanted to see Thane's story through to completion but he died in both my paragon and renegade playthroughs.

I successfully kept everyone alive, struggled with Jack though (since she hated me... a lot).

Some reason I can not get MP to work... =/

Thane's loyalty mission was actually pretty damn good! :]

The co-op unlocks if you purchased Battlefield 3 Ultimate Edition (I also think there were other ways to unlock it on Facebook), otherwise you have to wait until the 17th of Feb with everyone else. It is enjoyable enough though, can definitely see myself killing some evenings with friends on it.

Finally played MP and it's so damn good! But I just can not help but think how far Bioware has strayed from the RPG fundamentals. ME2 was pretty dumb downed but wow ME3 is just retarded now.

It's a shame really, I'm a bit over third-person cover shooters, and I just hope there is enough in Mass Effect 3's single-player to keep things interesting.

I was hoping a bit of ME1 customization and RPG elements would return just a bit, but damn this is just so freaking easy. Just call it Battlefield in Space

You mean Gears of War in space. Except, this will definitely have better story and writing than Gears of War.

This makes me wish Bioware would work on JE2, Mass Effect is awesome but this better be worth it!

What makes you think JE2 wouldn't suffer? They've lost their touch, that much was evident in what happened to Dragon Age 2 after the legendary Dragon Age: Origins.

RE: Mass Effect 3
^One average game is hardly enough to say that they've "lost their touch". I think SWTOR proved that they still very much have the touch and I have no doubt that ME3 will prove the same.

Haven't played DA or DA2 to judge that game, but you make a valid point. I'm sure the games were fun but not as in-depth as the original DA.

RE: Mass Effect 3
Dragon Age 2 is a poorly put together mess of a game, cutting back on essentially everything that made the original game so great and bringing it into alignment with Mass Effect except even MORE simplified. Normandy as a hub works, because Shepherd can explore the galalxy... but having a town as a hub in DA2 sucked with the surrounding lands so bare and recycled.

Old Republic is a good enough game, it is a bit hard to judge an MMO this early on. I got pretty bored of it after a few weeks, and probably won't renew my subscription until BioWare adds some more things to it.

RE: Mass Effect 3
I'm very disappointed in the demo, I really don't like the direction the franchise took. ME1 > ME2 > ME3.

And Bioware has lost their touch to a degree, they're moving to the Call of Duty crowd and are focusing less and less on intricate design and well developed characters.

RE: Mass Effect 3
^Again, this based on a single bad experience being Dragon Age 2 (demos don't count). Mass Effect works better as a shooter with RPG elements anyway IMO. The comparison to Gears of War or Call of Duty is barely skin deep, there is a lot more to ME.

RE: Mass Effect 3
ME2 was the wrong direction too - it felt like a side story and it felt like a bit of a retcon. ME1 was the best game in the franchise, if they refined some elements instead of over hauling them and taking the series in a different direction then we would be in a better position. It was a good game on its own merits but it didn't reach the lofty heights of 1.
