Netflix streaming on Wii rumor gets stronger

See the above image? Netflix had this on a survey a few months back, asking customers if they'd be interested in paying a $9.99 fee to stream movies to their Nintendo Wii over the internet using a special disk that had to be inserted into the Wii while it was connected to the internet.

The same survey has once again popped up, only this time the $9.99 fee has been removed. Does this mean that Netflix is prepared to allow us to stream movies to our Wiis in addition to our subscription at no extra cost? Given that Nintendo sold its 50 millionth Wii last month, it is no surprise that Netflix, who already has this service on Xbox 360, would want to tap into this huge market.

That would be awesome. Beats renting movies for 5 bucks a pop at Blockbuster. Do the movies stay on the Wii for good or is it for limited time?

Eh, it is all here-say right now but it would be a great addition. Rather have that than a DVD player in the console.

Eh, don't have the net for it. Plus I still like the idea of going down to the video store and picking out DVDs. And as for buying I'm nearly all Bluray now anyway.

But would still be good for Wii owners.

I would only be interested in this if the streaming is high quality and I can pay for it with Wii points. If not, I couldn't care less.

I'd rather just borrow a DVD from a friend or wait and get a Bluray Player/PS3 to buy and/or rent HD video.

Whooptie doo. Its streaming. Too bad with the Wii's capabilities, your average-quality movie will stop mid-viewing just to buffer. (Not that streaming HD content on other systems is much better.)

I won't deny that its neat. It just seems that's all that it is.
