i just paid over 6 bucks US for a pack of marlboro, just had the urge after quitting (again...sigh) that friggin ridiculous!!!!

I smoke B&H gold. Mostly socially these days, money is an issue as a student.

10 cost me about £3 (~$5)
20 are about £5.50 (~$9)

you guys don't get taxed anywhere near as much as we do

A US gallon of petrol here would cost about $6-7

Smoking? I'd rather not pollute my body and slowly kill myself. But at the same time, if others want to do it I can't stop them. Just stand aside and shake my head sadly. I have some friends who own a house and smoke in it all the time, as a result I can never visit them. Becaues I just come out smelling disgusting, feeling disgusting and just regret having gone there.

Hate smoking. But it people want to waste their money, then do so.

I quit smoking in September after ~10 years. I still have a cigar every few weeks though, but that's completely different.

Make a topic, Dume. Sadly a lot of things considered "cool" are bad habits or simply something that shouldn't be encouraged, whether it be smoking or the filthy things that some teenage girls call "fashion" these days.

I think debating the issue of what is considered "cool" and what should be considered "cool" could be fun.

It's one of those things a lot of students do.

After all, it's an opportunity to meet some new people every time you go out for a smoke at a nightclub or bar.

Anyway... yeah. I'm the only person at work who doesn't smoke, and the designated smoking room is the back room, my "office" so to speak. Since my job requires it, I stay at the back room a lot, and we're in a basement so there's no windows, only a crappy old vent...

Anyway, the only time I can sit back there and not feel like dying is at the start of the day before someone takes their first smoke break... Which is about 4 minutes in.

Needless to say, I get rather pissed whenever someone takes a smoke break.
For most habits, I'd say "whatever, do what you want to do", but when it's affecting me, I just want to punch you in the face. (I'm not saying I hate smokers; I'm saying I hate people who smoke near me.)

I do my part by staying in the machine room instead with headphones and noise canceling 'muffs to try to drone out the machines. Noise pollution > smoke.

If it wasn't for the smoke I'd love my job...

It's illegal to smoke in workplaces and pubs/restaurants, etc in the UK since july '07/'08 (can't remember which)

The only real downside is that clubs now smell like stale sweat as opposed to stale smoke.

I know which one I preferred >_>
