There has been a severe lack of old-school adventure games recently, however things seem set to change with Double Fine announcing that they'll be creating a new one.

It, however, relies entirely on the support of fans around the world with Double Fine using a Kickstarter fund to get some money behind the project. That's right, no middle-men, no suits, a game developed for you by Double Fine funded by you. The project already has over 3,000 backers and a pledge of $185,808 with 33 days remaining to meet the required $400,000 goal.

The project is being helmed by Tim Schafer himself, who is of course responsible for Grim Fandango and Day of the Tentacle and is currently being labelled as Double Fine Adventure. So far the title has only been confirmed for release on Steam, but Double Fine are considering iPad and other such devices.
