Portal was a small-scale experiment Valve pushed along with their heavy-weight franchises Team Fortress and Half-Life in The Orange Box. As many of you know, it became a huge hit in it's own right, garnishing many a reviewer's seal of excellence, and the love of many fans. With that said, it shouldn't surprise you that Valve has decided to make a sequel. What may surprise you is that it will hold it's own weight as a standalone sequel.

Gameinformer has the exclusive 12 page reveal, and will be bombarding us with more info on the game throughout the month. Their first big reveal? You'll be solving mind-bending puzzles with a friend in a co-op mode.

No platformss have been set as of yet, but one should automatically assume the PC dev will release the game on it's home turf of Steam on the PC, and with the reveal of a co-op mode, you would be hard pressed to rule out the 360.

Portal 2 has a release window of "this holiday season" according to the Steam update; they mean "Easter" right?

There's rumors of, ugh, macs getting in on the action.
The A.R.G ending way too soon.
I don't think it's over.
True true, but the announcement thing took a lot out of it I think.
Man, I'd love for this to be Valve's first hardcore go at developing on PS3 as well. But it won't. And thus I'll likely never play it. Real shame, because the first one was a decent game.

Get off your ass Valve and get friendly with the PS3's technology. It'd be much more worth your while than freaking Macs.

Sigh.
Hell, they're even swinging some love to Mac now.
Exactly. Who knows, maybe this will come to PS3. But heck, I won't get my hopes up.
The problem is that the source engine uses DirectX which is a microsoft tech.

However if they're actually going to start making games for mac, then there might be an openGL render path for the engine, which means PS3 games could entirely be possible.
I feel less enthused to support Valve while they don't support PS3.
I wouldn't let that get in the way of enjoying a *great* studios games.

More of a reason for Lemon to get a 360 :3
I'd get Valve games for PC if I had one capable of running them.

Well, I do just not new Valve games.

Besides, Portal especially feels like a PC game... I found out the hard way after spending some time with a console version. Doesn't matter to me that it was the PS3. The mouse would be much more useful than joysticks for aiming quickly and accurately with the portal gun.
It's undeniable that Valve games are best fit for PC

They do FPS games after all. But I do have to say that the L4D games seem to be targeted more towards Xbox.
L4D2 did make the UI seem a little less console-y; I'm inclined to agree.
