I decided to make a separate thread for each game that we play and discuss for our Games of the Past section set up by yours truly.

If you want to participate in playing this with us, there are multiple ways of getting it. ROMs (although I don't encourage it), if you've a working Super Nintendo, you can find the cartridge and play it on there, or you could get it on the Nintendo's Virtual console, which will cost you 800 Nintendo Points.

In this thread, we will discuss Super Metroid (aka Metroid 3), the 2D action-adventure SNES classic. Arguably one of the greatest games ever made. The plot centers around the heroine, Samus Aran, after the events of Metroid II: The Return of Samus [GameBoy] where the protagonist "adopts" a newly hatched Metroid, that believes her to be its mother. Taking the baby to scientists on the Ceres Space Colony, who believe they can harness the Metroid's power, Samus believes her mission ends there.

Unfortunately, however, just as our hero leaves the space colony, she receives a distress call from the scientists. Upon her return, she discovers the scientists killed and the Metroid stolen by none other than a series staple, and Space Pirate leader, Ridley. Her chase takes to planet Zebes, where her mission to recover the stolen Metroid begins.

I'm guessing that the playthrough might take maybe two weeks? It shouldn't take that long, but I don't want this first time to feel cramped, either. What do you guys think?

It should be around 3weeks for people who have never played it (me) and for people who cant play there wii alot (also me).
