New Play Control: Metroid Prime to Feature Achievements System

New Play Control: Metroid Prime to Feature Achievements System
[Image: samus.PNG]
The system of "achievements" in 2007's Metroid Prime 3: Corruption was a neat system of adding to the experience of the final chapter in Nintendo's sci-fi series. While achievements and trophies are now commonplace on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, it was something not yet seen on Wii. We've now learned that the New Play Control Wii re-release of the original Metroid Prime from GameCube will also feature a similar achievement system which was not present in the original version.

Those who were worried that the game would be nothing but a straight port with Wii controls can rest easy now, as it seems that the New Play Control version of Metroid Prime will also feature a new scan visor interface, and those who have already played through the original game should be happy to know that Hard mode will be unlocked right from the start.

New Play Control: Metroid Prime was released this past week in Japan. North American and European dates are currently unknown but the game is expected to arrive later this year.

Woo!! This is a neat feature. Every bit of news I hear about you, Wii Game of 2009, the more I want you to so badly be in my collection.

Although, having Hard Mode unlocked at the start is meh. Maybe they'll put in a Harder Mode!!

I was considering waiting for a price drop. I forgot to add "At launch."
I guess this means we'll be seeing a similar implementation in MP2's second debut.

Probably! But Retro have already said they aren't adding to the multiplayer. Lazy jerks.

LAZY JERKS?
After an outing such as this, I wouldn't have the guts to call them that. Plus, the evidence suggests a new title in the works. I'm happy to be seeing any type new content; the other two play control titles got nothing in that realm.
Although you do have a point; I would have loved to see more from the multiplayer side of the spectrum.

Surely it wouldn't have taken too much. I mean, I'm sure the Hunters team isn't very busy at the moment. Could have asked them to do some fiddling. The multiplayer mode is there already. With no online I would have rathered that they remove it and add something more worthwhile in its place.

You bring up a good point with the Hunter team. I enjoyed Hunters' multiplayer, even against the bots.

So they're going to keep the multiplayer from MP2? Awesome. My dreams of playing multiplayer with Prime 3 controls are fulfilled.

Yeah they are keeping it. But it'll suck just as much as it did in the original copy of Echoes, lol. That is quite the sad case.

It wasn't that bad.

But then again, it wasn't great, either.

RE: New Play Control: Metroid Prime to Feature Achievements System
I thought it was quite ordinary. Doesn't really need to be there if there's no online. Was a waste of space.
