Guitar Hero may continue whoring itself
So really, if you are surprised about this then hit yourself, but if you were expecting Activision to continue whoring out this franchise then come jump in my boat.
Recently the company trademarked the title Guitar Hero: Modern Hits. Shouldn't be long before they reveal the next game and I'd expect it out asap (judging by Activision's quality control) Anyway. Stack this with the rumoured Metallica and possibly Jimmy Hendrix Guitar Hero games... and we have one very overdone franchise. Let's wait for Guitar Hero: Sold Out, so that it can all come full circle and the game that is a sell out can feature songs from bands who sold out. Source Damn you, Activision. Of course, they could have just trademarked it for the Hell of it and have no plan of making anything of that... but that just wouldn't be the Activision that we know, now would it? |

RE: Guitar Hero may continue whoring itself
I also remember hearing rumors of a Rock Band: AC/DC
Frankly I dont care though. Let them do all the spinoffs they want, I'll only buy the main games in the series. |

So long as Activision stay away from Blizzard's affairs; they could do what they want.

RE: Guitar Hero may continue whoring itself
Sadly I may buy the Rockband AC/DC because we still don't have the PSN cards here for the U.S. and I doubt we ever will so it's my only chance to get more songs for it. After playing Guitar Hero: Aerosmith I definitely WON'T be picking up any more of the "sub" games probably.

RE: Guitar Hero may continue whoring itself
LM-X: I'm not saying that Activision isn't whoring out Guitar Hero, but what they do is the basis of marketing. If products are a great success, the companies milk their product as much as they can until people get tired of it. They see the decline in sales, and work goes to the R&D department, seeing what they can do to catch up and stay ahead of the competition. New variations come out, people enjoy it, and the process pretty much repeats itself.
Besides, what classic/modern rock lover WOULDN'T like to play some Hendrix and Metallica? [br]Click here to feed me![br]Get your own at Pokeplushies!Could you imagine a world without hypothetical questions?

Yeah, I saw the box art of Rock Band AC/DC yesterday in GAME, pre-order only of course. And there has been a debut trailer of GH: Metallica yesterday.

RE: Guitar Hero may continue whoring itself
At least the Rock Band downloads and even most of the main games (for a small fee) can be played on the future versions. That's a killer feature for me, and the reason I have GHWT but play rock band 2 a lot, lot more.

RE: Guitar Hero may continue whoring itself
Yeah, Activision is whoring themselves out big time. I used to buy their games but I stopped at GH:Aerosmith. Just not worth it.
I wholly agree with Joker, I just recently payed a small amount, only 400 MP!, to get my RB1 songs on my RB2 disc, and further, they'll be on every other RB game that comes out! So now my RB2 library is up to 170+ songs! Also, the AC/DC really wasn't a spin-off game. It's just a track pack like the Wii ones. Also, Harmonix isn't even making spin-off games. The one game they are making (The Beatles one) is independent from Rock Band and doesn't carry it's title. So it'll be different, which is more then Activision can say, they just copy and paste. :l ![]() |

RE: Guitar Hero may continue whoring itself
I wouldn't be surprised if they made a Guitar Hero: Nintendo Mix with all of Nintendo's biggest music themes. Now THAT would be Whoring themselves out. xD

RE: Guitar Hero may continue whoring itself
GH Metallica is more than rumored. Plus it will be epic. Hit the Lights on Expert? An extra drum pedal for Expert Pro?? Master of Puppets? Alice in Chains? Mastadon? Queen? Lynard Skynard? The setlist cant get any better. And *Jimi* Hendrix was an amazing guitarist. Nobody has been able to play like him after 30 years. He was amazing. And being able to play Hey Joe, Castles Made of Sand and so on would be awesome. I doubt we see a Jimi Hendrix Guitar Hero for sometime though. They may be making way too many Guitar Hero games right now. But as already said, they are doing what is going to sell. Metallica has sold over 100 million albums. Of course they are going to make a Guitar Hero Metallica. Plus Metallica's music was MADE for Guitar Hero. The parts are not all repetitive. It is fast, fun and the solos are usually amazing. After watching the videos of the upcoming GH Metallica, they did an amazing job. They captured the essence of being at a Metallica concert. Watching the video, and being to 10 different Metallica shows, I can honestly say it was so close, and it really felt like I was there, that I could smell it. I could smell the sweat coming off the crowd. I could smell the countless people smoking. It makes me want to travel in 2009 to go see them. I guess if you hate Metallica, then yeah, the game isnt going to do much for you. But for us diehard fans out there, it is a blessing. And because of all the diehard fans out there, and all the bonus features it will have about the band... I think GH will get a few Metallica fans to purchase the game, and turn them into GH fans.

RE: Guitar Hero may continue whoring itself
Lol, I agree in most of the things you say DD, but I have to correct and say Guitar Hero was MADE for Metallica, not otherwise
. I say GH:Metallica is indeed a great upcoming game I am going to buy, although I think they are overdoing with games so fast, they should wait some more and make improvements and stuff with all those yet to appear games.

RE: Guitar Hero may continue whoring itself
This makes me sad.
I would've been fine if it just kept on going 5, 6, 7, 8; then it would've just become a repetitive series like Mario Party that I can ignore. Instead, it has done that AS WELL AS spin-off titles. A prime example of how a series has absolutely FAILED doing that is Sonic. I'm not even touching how bad it is, so I'll leave it at that. But oh well. I can always play cool songs like Knights of Cydonia (or Assassin) and pretend that none of this is happening.
