RE: DS Mods. (R4, M3 Simply, etc)
The SNES emulator made for DS is really buggy so I doubt PS games will work in this gen. Maybe on the next handheld.

I've looked into these Slot-1 DS mods quite a bit. If you need anything just send a PM. Smile

It's pretty much just insert SD card in computer, drag and drop, put card into DS. Done.

jesus my xbox modification was NOTHING! IMO i found it to be very easy- so, that means the DS can be friggen stupid easy! holy crap!

i just gotta get the perfect R4 kit and like a 4G TF card....just dont know which one to get off dealextreme

GTFO!!!! STFU!!! WTFBBQ!!

ok no seriously it really cant be THAT simple....can it?

i downloaded like 1000 DS games (in .NDS format?) so all i have to do is unzip them and then put them on the transflash cards, onto the DS cartridge and viola? the game plays????????

wow....just simply wow....and here i am thinking its a real pain in the ass with all these technical things....way to over analyze jill....

Yup, that's it. Smile
And I'd suggest you look into the Real. It does everything the R4 and M3 Simply did, only it's supposed to be bug free (I doubt that but I'll bet it does have less problems than the older two), and supports the high capacity micro SD cards. Meaning 4 gigs and up. As far as I know the R4 and Simply dont support cards larger than 2GB.

i got about 30 games on my TF card and i cant put the thing down! best investment ive ever spent and my bf is waiting with utter anticipation till his comes in the mail since he copied me and had to buy a DS/R4 set up too lol. well i suppose thats good becuase that means we dont have to share anymore lmao

best thing ever! i owe it all to kindrik!

RE: DS Mods. (R4, M3 Simply, etc)
Does the R4 Perfect play GBA games?
Either way, Real would have been the better choice, seeing as its the newest version and all.

After all the money I spent thanks to the M3 Simply, I might as well spend 40$ for the newer, better version xD

Plus, I realy, realy want to play FF Tactics again.

RE: DS Mods. (R4, M3 Simply, etc)
reason i didnt buy a M3 or a EZ or anything like that is because i have GBA games on my xbox. yes that may sound crazy but i softmoded my xbox and downloaded a emulator to play GBA games. so instead of packing a few games on a DS that i probably wont play and would rather save the room for DS games, id rather put 200+ games on my xbox Smile

but the R4 itself wont work- it needs that rom expansion pack that i found on DX for 19$ and then from there it will Smile

RE: DS Mods. (R4, M3 Simply, etc)
hmm whats that all about?

kindrik said the R4 was the best as did most people who have it and ive never heard anything bad about it from reviews on DX and forums for the DS

so i trust hearsay when it its the most sold unit for the DS mod Smile

either way im FAR from disappointed with my choice

I think I said the Real was probably best, but either way, I see no difference between cycloDS, R4, or M3. They're all the same with a different label.

RE: DS Mods. (R4, M3 Simply, etc)
Yet another soul in the market!

So, with all these options, I'm not sure which I should get... R4, M3 Real/Simply, etc... Which is the best/offers the most options? I'd like to be able, in order of importance, do the following: Play DS games, Play GBA games, Play music, SNES emulator (CHRONO TRIGGER ON THE GO!), Play movies...

I really don't know a whole lot about this--I'm effectively where TLC was on the 8th (see her post Toungue ) I haven't bought anything yet, so anything is an option--what's the best, most flexible, and offers the most options? User friendly would be appreciated, too Smile

RE: DS Mods. (R4, M3 Simply, etc)
All of them play videos (once converted to a special format called .dpg) and MP3s, and the R4, M3 Simply, and M3 Real are all pretty user friendly because it's basically all drag and drop.

I tried what was considered the best possible available SNES emulator for DS homebrew and it was pretty buggy. Chrono Trigger in particular was unplayable because there were visual glitches and a constant loud buzzing or screeching sound that would make your ears bleed. I don't know if things have been fixed with the emulator since then.

Also, read this: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=42715&hl=
That guide should answer all the questions you have. When I first got my Simply I didn't know anything at all, but I followed that and was able to pick it all up easily. Also, I'm assuming that the process for the M3 Real is very similar in case you choose to get that one. Get the Real if you want to play "backed up" Wink DS games or GBA games. If you want only DS games, or video and music then go with either the Simply or R4. They're the exact same thing.

RE: DS Mods. (R4, M3 Simply, etc)
so, basically, I should get the Real, cause it can play GBA games, too? do I need anything extra, or does it play GBA games from slot 1?

Also, while I'm at it, what do I need to get a browser running?

RE: DS Mods. (R4, M3 Simply, etc)
That unfortunately, I don't know since I don't have the Real yet. When you buy the Real you get a free rumble pak no matter where you buy from. But I think to get it to work for GBA games or the browser you'd need to take the bundle that has the added RAM since that was apparently the reason why the M3 Simply and R4 couldn't play GBA games, or the Opera browser.

The place where I got my Simply from, echostore.com has three different bundles listed. The first one with the free rumble pack ($41.99), a second with "Rumble Ram" ($49.99), and a final one with rumble pack + GBA expansion ($59.99). That's where I get confused. I don't know if to play GBA roms you need the pack with the GBA expansion, or if you can use just the Rumble Ram pack. Common sense though leads me to believe that if you want to use the Opera browser you'd need at the very least the Rumble Ram pack, while GBA games would require the GBA expansion.

I emailed M3 a while back for an answer to that question but they never got back to me. That's the third time I've sent them an email and got no response. That's one thing I should mention, M3 customer support sucks. But you can usually find everything you need on the net somewhere. That said, try searching around on Google to see if you can dig anything up.
